Question to all.......I caught a Hybrid 50" monster late July of this year in Poplar Grove, IL.....My scale tops out 25 lbs and was wondering if there's a math guru out there that can get me close in relation to how much my muskie weighed at the lengthed mentioned.......I do have a picture posted posted.....This was a catch and release fish ......thanks

You'd need to have a girth measurement to be able to calculate weight:

Length X girth X girth/800 or try some of the others out there (can't remember what the other is)

A site with a bunch of different lenght-weight calculators:

http://www.nwtigermuskies.com/weight.html

There's no way one can accurately guess the weight of a fish based on a picture alone...

if it's the one you registered in the big fish contest on this site i'd say it would be 28-30 lbs on an accurate scale.
nice fish congrats

dscorzo, that would have been a state record Tiger! What lake is in Poplar Grove? Private? There have been some nice Tigers coming out of IL private lakes. I lost an upper 40's Tiger this year on Crystal Lake. great job!

Thanks MuskyStalker...The lake is Candlewick Lake....just East of the Rock River in Poplar Grove....it's about 220 acres and holds some pretty big fish for IL.....My last Musky was 46 inches in 2004.....

if thats the pic of the fish on the main page it sure does look like a natural musky pattern. i guess what i am getting at is your typical tiger will be light with dark bars. that pattern looks like your standard clear water pattern for a natural musk. either way, congrats man. How well did she release?

Trying to believe that it was released, but your picture isn't helping you out at all. Nice fish either way. Doesn't look like a tiger to me either. Congrats.

To echo the sentiments of above, that really does not look like a Tiger

hi Dominick,

nice fish, looks more like a true muskie to me rather than a hybrid, but it can be tough to tell in pictures. it's a big one either way, congrats!

i'll offer the following friendly tips for the next time you catch a muskie:
- it's easier for people to believe the fish was released if the picture shows the fish in or near the water; many shore-fishermen take pictures wading or kneeling next to the fish at the water's edge so that this is obvious.
- many people believe that holding fish vertically could be harmful to their jaws or internal organs, a hand supporting their belly is much preferred. it might mean not knowing exactly how much it weighs, but many people are more interested in quickly releasing the fish than getting a precise weight anyway.

thanks for sharing your catch with us.
