I was just wondering if anyone else is having problems with the Luna's anti-reverse? It works great for straight retrieve baits, but it back reels when I use jerkbaits and twitch baits. I have 2 Lunas with this problem. I keep sending them back to Daiwa and a few weeks later they back reel again.

Posts: 1456 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | I had a milionairre that had the same probs...sent it in numerous times and kept having same problem...they sent me a luna and had the same probs....anit-reverse hell! Good luck... I now run cheap reels and consider them disposable...never found a reel I could get two seasons out of.

For jerkbaits, gliders & twitch baits, I've been using a Quantum Cabo CBC30PTS for the past few years with no issues....it's better than my Curado which I just sold to a friend. $.02

Posts: 2089 | "Anti-reverse hell". I love it. I have not had one issue with my Lunas until this season. Holding my rod straight out with a 3oz. bait, and the handle slowly turns backwards. Hook a bait on the "keeper" while moving spots and slack line develops. Not just one , but "a few". Send 'em back and hope for the best. Oh, and I have a buddy who toasted a Trinidad 16N this season. I guess us Muskie guys/gals are just too hard on out stuff or manufacturers can't produce a reel we can't break. It's not the fighting of the fish, it's the casting and woorking of big baits. I know , I know, 2-3oz baits aren't big in the muskie realm, but in the general fishing scene, they are. I want a reel that will allow me to rip a 12" Big Game all day. Does such an animal exist? (see Bigfoot story). Starting to like the idea of "disposeable " reels. Take the couple G I've spent on the "good stuff" and roll it into twice as many "cheaper" reels. Sounds kinda backwards to me though. Hmmm. Steve

CB, Yeah man , and as much as I try to keep my thumb on the spool , it just doesn't work. I conciously try to keep slack out and keep the reel "in gear" on the pops and twitches. I challenge any manufacturer to make a reel that I can't break. 33 years and counting.Hahahahaha. Callin' it like I see it. Oh and $$$ now doesn't seem to matter. Used to get what you pay for. Desperate times...... Steve

Same here. I've actually lost a couple fish this year because of the same problem.

I've blown up TE's as well , and for 3fiddy they shouldn't sound like coffee grinders after a season. S

The best reels I've used, for durability anyways, are the old BPS Pete Maina reels--the BLACK ones (the gold ones that my friends have break all the time), and the Cabo.

Don't know if this would be something that could help you guys. Most of my reels are old abu 7000's from before the instant anti-reverse came out. When I rip baits super hard I thumb the spool. It sounds complicated but you get used to it right away. Probably nothing magically about 7000's either, I don't mean they're not strong, but if I did slack line rips they'd probably break too.
