What is the latest anyone has musky fished in Northwestern Ontario? We have a chance to go in late October and am curious as to anyones experiences at that time.

We go to LOTW 1st or 2nd week every October. Can be really outstanding fishing, just need to be prepared for the weather. Got caught in that Oct. storm in '06 and couldn't hardly leave the cabin for three days, much less fish.

If you like fall fishing, LOTW is a great place to be in October. Go all day without seeing more than another boat or two, huge flocks of ducks and geese coming thru from the north, moose and deer in the rut, beautiful fall colors, constant fire in the woodstove and monster muskie feeding up for winter.

November 23rd. -28 C that morning with a snow storm the night before. Warmed to -13 during the day. ....broke ice at the launch for about 20 feet. Hit a 44 within 15 minutes of trolling.

Last year I was out in mid Nov, had a 6 fish day biggest was the 47 in my avatar.

Is it mostly a trolling bite at that time? What do you recommend for lure selections? Bucktails, cranks, jerk, twitch?

After the water temp drops below 50 and the cisco start to spawn, it's mostly trolling but some of the hardcore guys cast until the bitter frozen end.

Jakes, Grandmas and Believers for trolling. Troll the rocky shoreline in 12-20' at 3-5 mph and bang those baits off the rocks and wait for your rod to double over. Make sure you use 36 or 48" heavy duty leaders.

November 14 last year on LOTW, had 3 fish in about 2 hrs of trolling. Grandma's, Triple D's, Slammers and X-rap Magnum's are my favourite fall lures. Happy hunting!

Went up to Lac Seul once the first weekend in Oct. hit a bad cold front we had to pull up on an island on the way out to Chamberland narrows do to a white out snow. we finally made it to the cabin before dark there was snow on the ground the temp was 28 degrees F. In the morning all the water pipes were frozen so we had no water or shower. we had to get water from the lake and boil it to cook and drink. the cabin was uninsulated and all we had for wood was pine, we had to take turns getting up about every 3 hours to stoke the wood stove. It never got above freezing for 4 days, nothing ever thawed out we went home. The only bright spot was a thick fat 47 incher we cauhgt trolling. I swore I would never go to Canada again any latter than September.

I was with Darcy that same day in November! Crazy weather and Crazy fisherman. We did manage a couple that day. Must slow down and troll really big lures. That's Our experience anyway.
