Location: Green Bay, WI | Eric sorry it just came out wrong. The last thing in the project meaning they want to see this happen is natural reproduction. |

Not really. We attempted to find spawning locations by spotlighting fish at night and daytime observations, without much success. We were hampered by a broken trolling motor, wind, and water clarity, and only ended up observing muskies in little Sturg. We will hopefully be using miniature radio transmitters implanted into female oviducts next spring and then when the fish deposit their eggs we can identify the location of the radio transmitter. That method should work better on the bay than spotlighting.

| There is attempted spawning occurring in the bay/fox. The question is whether it is successful or not. So they determine that there is successful natural reproduction occurring and then cut off stocking? What is the point of this? There will never be a fishable population of muskies in the bay without a substantial amount of stocking to get the population large enough to sustain itself. With all the carp/alwifes and shad there is no reason not to stock a lot of fish in this system. |

| Also to think that halting stocking efforts with the intent of stopping the virus, with the virus already in the system, is a huge stretch of optimism. The amount of variables that go into starting the virus (including water temp) are so numerous that it will be hard to ever get a grasp on what is causing VHS. A good start would be to stop all the ballast water dumping first. That may be a bit to obvious though. |
