In the Okuma chat you mentioned that you are working w/ Dougj on coming out with a new trolling stick... are these going to be ready for this fall? Thanks!

It's called the Canadian trolling rod. It's a nice rod, very solid backbone with a quick tip. I've used mine for both a down rod and planer board rod, worked well in both formats. I also plan on using it for a sucker rod in the fall. If you're planning on trolling medium to large bait I would suggest getting one or two of them.

Phil... Magruter said it best. That is our only "trolling" rod that we have. It was designed by one of our Canadian guys for trolling up there. From what I can gather... most guys in the U.S. prefer a lighter rod for trolling. Something similar to what would be a cross between a heavier downrigging rod and a Planer rod.

I even asked Steve Worrall at the ICAST show what he thought would be a good trolling rod out of the Okuma lineup. After looking through what we have to offer... he said the EVX-C-861H-T would be what he would use.

With that being said...the only true Muslie trolling rod we have is the EVX-T-801H

From my experience the EVX telescopic Rods don't fit in a downeastern rod holders.

They fit in the rod holdrers, but trolling with then makes the telescopic connection really tight. I had a heck of a time getting the rod to collapse after trolling with them this weekend.
