| Daggone good article! While all you guys were out enjoying the weekend, I was sitting here w/ a sore throat + a melon head trying to sit up straight + read the board articles [:(] .....chick at work gave me a hug Thursday afternoon + by Friday night I was sucking wind...she left work sick on Saturday + I'm wondering if she did it on purpose...anyway it was a good article + reminder to do it every cast + do it right every time! |

I was wondering what about a fish following a jerkbait? This seems to be the toughest for me and I was wondering what you do? Do you do a different figure-8 for each different lure? |

I've done well this year and last of last fig8-ing Jerkbaits, mostly gliders....First of all, like MuskyFever's article says: DO NOT DO THE 8, GO WITH A CIRLCE. I try to do my best to keep some semblence of the the retrieve that got the fish interested in the first place. To do this it helps to be able to have the ROD IN THE WATER!!! One of those places where a longer rod helps, or to be more flexible physically. Just jerk the bait, or make the glide happen just above, or at the eye level to the fish. I personally can't say I've conquered the speed factor for triggering the strike; but when in doubt keep the constant speed, or speed UP....I ONLY slow down in a case where a fish keeps following after about the 3rd full circle, and doesnt seem to be getting hotter to the bait....drop it on her head, or cross her nose with it, has gotten a few strikes for me that way. Just a few ideas.
