I am hooked, 16 saving money from my job to by a boat this winter. I have been muskie fishing for 8 years but the last 5 years I have gotten really serious about it. Most of my extra money goes to buying baits.

I got hooked when I was about...old enough to stand...started with my dad casting and me retreiving..he did the same for my lil bro. Watched him catch many many many fish and he let us fight them a lot, and him being a taxidermist I got to see so many nice ones and how happy people were when they brought them in/picked them up...Now it drives him nuts how much time I spend on the water, and all the money I spend on musky fishing. Free mounts by the best ftw!

My son is 11 going on 12 and has been seriously musky fishing for the last four years. He's big time hooked and I'm guessing his four year old brother is gonna follow in his footsteps.

I have 3 boys. 2 of the 3 musky fish, and the 3rd wants to. Another 2 yrs or so and he'll be ready.

My daughter is 12, and she fishes for everything.
Muskies are tough. She'll cast for an hour and then take a break for a half hour or fish for panfish while I fish for muskies

i'm 15 and i started around 4 years old and caught my first 31 1/2 at age 4. the past 4 years have been the most serious for chasing skis. i got a 42 last october on a sucker in northern wisconsin. i also use most of my extra money for fishing lures or hunting stuff instead of spending it on video games or something not worthwhile.

Just started teaching my 9yr old son this year on muskies. I held off & continue to limit strictly muskie fishing. I want his interest to stay at a high level & if he changes up and fishes for smallies, northerns or whatever is biting he stays focused. I know how frustrating muskie fishing can be most times & also know how rewarding it can be. He is not ready to cast all day for nothing. Not yet.

I want him to enjoy being out on the water fishing for whatever & not to get frustrated if fish don't want to play ball.

I think the best anglers can target any fish & know when it time to switch it up.

Hell, even I need to take a break on muskies & catch something different now & then. Fished for Rainbow trout yesterday & brought some home to grill up. Both the 9 & 4ry old had a total blast & son #2 ate fish for the first time since he helped clean them. He thought it was cool & mom thought it was discusting. Typical.

My 5 year old daughter had a mid 30 on last year but lost it boat side. It was the coolest thing ever to watch her hang on for about 10 seconds. Now when ever we fish for blue gills or bucket mouths on the pond she comments that she wants to fish for the mighty Esox. She'll have another crack this fall in PI. I may tie the rod to the boat and velcro her feet to the boat carpet.
The sickness effects all age levels.

All three of my sons like to musky fish. Being divorced, they only get to musky fish twice a year so their opportunities are limited. My 14 year old has a 45.5(age 13) and a 38(age 10), my 12 year old has a 26(age 5), 32(age 8) and a 37(age 12), my 10 year old has lost two upper 30" fish but not yet boated one. He does have a 38.5" pike last year. He can't wait to get one and the other two want another one bad!

My three kids (10,6,4) love to go fishing with Dad, but they don't have the patience for musky fishing yet.  The ten year old comes along and is a decent net and camera man.  He'll take a few casts and then play his Gameboy or eat snacks.  I'm sure he'll catch the bug soon, but no rush.  Just glad he likes spending time with me.

I am 16 and my dad also got me into musky fishing. I started Musky fishing when I was 6 and have been hooked since. I am lucky enough to live on a Musky lake so i can fish quite often. We had a 14 ft Alumacraft model f boat that didn't have a lot of room to fish out of, so I got a job last fall and saved enough money to buy a bigger boat.
