hey guys i usually use a stick for this. but i am thinking about going to a board. either a dunright or something of that soart.. if you have one please let me know.. have lots to trade or buy for a good price...bill

My Dad made me the best board that there is. Go buy yourself some 1x6's, cut a couple of 60" pieces for the bottom and the back and a 12" piece for the nose bump. Use some good screws and epoxy to put it together, and if you know someone with wood-working skills, do what my Dad did and inlay a four-foot rule on the bottom...better yet one on the bottom and one on the back.
It's easy to store out of the way, along the bottom edge of the boat floor/ compartment or livewell joint. I lay all of my release tools on it so they are at hand. Mine turned into a family heirloom, because I added columns on the back that show the date, length, lure, lake and angler that caught the fish. At the end of each season I brush Envirotex over the info for the year to preserve it. And every time that I use it, I think of my Dad.

I can make you one out of PVC for a few lures if you're interested. Flat PVC that is, just like the Dunrights.

Hey archerynut36,

I'll tell you what I did.

First, I used to use a tailor's tape. You know, the type a tailor would use when measuring you for a suit. I got a rubber one that I roll up as it is slime resistant.

However, this became tedious to measure a fish in the net and just wasn't accurate.

I went to a local glass shop. You know, a guy that repairs windows and such. He also did lexan glass / plexi-glass work. I told him that I needed a piece that was 60" long on the bottom and that folded about 4-8 inches at 90 degrees on the end. Cost me $20.

I then took a 2nd tailor tape and using StikArounds line tape, glued it to the board. I put a little clear epoxy on each end to ensure it wouldn't peel up on me.

Works great.

I flip it upside down so that the bend is facing down and I lay it on the side of the boat while traveling as it lays flat.

That Dunwright board sure looks nice, though but it's double the price and I'd have to pay the shipping.

Do you mean like the Dunwright? If so, no, not yet. So far, it's been effective without it. I just put the nose of the fish to the end with the bend and measure.
