Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> No sun....no weeds.

With all the cloudy rainy days we have had in April and May this will make things very interesting for the good weed bites to come.

The cold has dropped water temps from 62 in back bays to 51.

What is your call on the situation mother nature has pitched at us this year.

I think that august will rock for fishing since last year was 90 degrees and hot this year will be slower and later summer and early fall will be best and might be a weed bite.

I really hope MuskieE is right! That would be great.

Although this isn't a real orthodox year, sometimes these types of years really turn things up. As far as weeds are concerned I will agree that when a good spot does not have the weeds it did the previous year it is a big disappointment. But let's hope that this is one of those odd ball years where more fish tend to be caught. I would love a little bit cooler summer rather than 99 degrees and beating sun.

I can't wait for the opener up north. The cooler temps will make for a pretty easy job locating the bigger girls on the mid meso lakes I prefer, and should make for a killer surface and glide/jerk bait bite.

Yes, if things keep going as they are and we don't get a hurrendous hot spell, that will keep that algae blooms down too. Makes for better fishing.[:)]

I have a really good feeling about the bite this late
summer / early fall.... simply great! The bass just got thumpin' here a few days ago, just waiting on the magic
water temps...waiting...

We just ended a stretch here in NW Wisconsin of 27 consecutive days with below normal "highs" along with a handfull of record overnight lows. It is going to be an interesting spring. I'm with Steve though, I think it will limit the locations on some ponds, should be fun! [:p]

Just a PS: I was supposed to go up for the Canadian walleye opener today, the lake we normally fish is STILL frozen and they don't expect ice out for another week! [:0] Guess it could be worse around here.
