Location: University of Hartford | how do you properly work a suick, all mine dont dive and rise at all, they work really randomly, like popping out of the water and such. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Location: Not where I wanna be! | if your metal tail is more level than bent, try bending it down evenly and that should help with the depth. the eye might need tweeked as well. but that is if it is going side to side.
my preferrenace is to use a heavy duty steel leader, that keeps it a little deeper in open water, but if im fishing around heavy weeds, i like to go to a flurocarbon or thick mono leader.

Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | They need to be properly weighted. Some of my baits will suspend 3-4 ft when jerked down and others will rise slowly but there all weighted. Try to get in touch with Joe Muskie and see if you can buy a weight system from him. You can add or subtract as needed or to your style of fishing. Bending the steel tail helps but without weight you can't control the raise without reeling. This is the method I have found to work well others may have a different style that works to there liking. I do have a couple of non-weighted for real weeded conditions, then work the bait and let it raise quickly to aviod snags. Maybe from the top to 1 foot down.

Could some explain how to "tweek the eye"?. Is it just simply bending the eye right or left??

Location: University of Hartford | To those that asked I am bending the metal flap down at about 45 degrees and they dive to the side no matter what even when I mess with the eye. But picking up the EA mag should help.

Location: Hayward, WI | The tail is pretty sensitive to how much you bend it. You usually only need to bend them down a little bit from level. Try bending it back up a little bit closer to level than to 45 degrees.
Then, if turning the eye doesn't help, bend one corner of the tail down slightly. I think if the bait is running to the left, you bend the right corner of the tail down (with the head of the bait away from you). If it turns worse, bend the flap/corner back up and bend the other one down, lol. I've found the tail can correct a more severe problem than turning the eye can.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yep, that's too much bend on the tail. Just a bit, about 15 degrees or an eighth of an inch, then a downward wrinkle on one corner or the other, and she will dance. Main deal for me is rod position, nearly straight down with wrist twitches, and 'reel while you twitch' the lure, sharp handle turns WHILE you snap the rod tip. I can make a Suick walk the dog big time from just under the surface to pretty deep with tail tuning and varied retrieves. I think I have more Suicks than any other lure other than Creatures. |

| Best advice I can give is to spend a day with Dave Dorazio. Nobody works a Suick like he does. I'm close, but he is the top dog when it comes to this bait. He will get you going with that bait.
