Looking for feedback on these 10 amp (per bank) chargers from Minn Kota that use your main motor alternator to charge your trolling batteries. In particular I want the 2 bank MK-2-DC model.

I island camp out on the Chip for several days at a time and get pretty low on my trolling batteries after the third day or so. My Suzuki motor has a 40 amp alternator so it should be able to handle the load. Over the course of the time that I am out there, I am looking for a way to extend my trolling battery charge. Seems like a great concept so long as the unit is reliable.

Thanks,

Pete

Didn't get any feedback on this but I went ahead and bought one. I am very happy with this purchase. Have done a few multiple day camping trips without electricity (to use for 110V charger) and can easily keep the batteries up to snuff so long as there is gas in the tank!

Even if you do not make long runs, or do not troll for any amount of time, you can easily bring your batteries up by idling the motor while fishing on a drift, or even while using the motor. It is really great to be self contained from the electrical side.
