Posts: 1460 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Okay---this is not musky related. Planning a family get together with brother and sister and their families and they would like to be near the dells. I know there are some good boating/fishing opportunities---sight seeing by boat, etc.. Want to stay on the water with docks for boats. I heard there is an upper or a lower dells seperated by a dam? Should we look to stay upper or lower..and other info would be great...thanks! Edited by Cowboyhannah 4/29/2008 9:55 PM

I used to fish it alot in the spring(april, may) back in the 70's. It only had one resort back then and alot of houses. It used to be a fabulous crappie fishery, decent walleyes and some big ones too. A few bass, both kinds mixed in as well. 1/32oz brown mister twister beetle spins with orange tails did the trick very well. I do not know when you are going but Delton gets heavily boated now during tourist season. Mirror lake is a man made lake with a dam and flows into lake Delton. No resorts, has a state park and decent fishing and use facilities. If you like auto racing at all, Dells motor Speedway runs on saturday nights. About 5 or so miles north of the Dells on rt 12. Took my kids last year, 5 divisions of racing can't beat it!

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | There's some real hogs in the Lazy River at the Wilderness Lodge. We didn't fish it the last time I was there, but I noted feeding habits with my keen fisherman's eye. It's an intriguing body of water because you can sight fish. If it were me, I would work the current near the bends in the river with sub sandwich glide baits and plastic container nacho topwaters. Accurate casts of unopened bottles of Miller Lite burned back also would work IMHO. The baits aren't cheap at the little bait counters they have at the river's edge, but it wouldn't surprise me if you had a multiple hog day. Good luck. Kevin Too much pork for just one fork.

Breezer has been racing since I have been watching races, the very late 60's and Turner has been racing since the early 60's if not the late 50's. They are still winning too!

I have found the real big ones will follow on the sub sandwich glides, but you can hook up with them throwing a short rib WTD type bait. Good Luck!

Posts: 284 | I don't mean to jump on someone else's thread, but my wife has planned 3 or 4 days at a water park / hotel thing in July in the Dells. I think I can slip out for a day of fishing if I beg in the right way. My question is, can anyone suggest a muskie guide to hire and body of water to fish while I am there? Thank you in advance ...

Posts: 158 Location: Burlington, WI | Dunlap, I don't know about right there in the Dells for muskie fishing, but the petenwell flowage (WI river as well) is not very far away. I know Todd Forcier guides out there. I'd try and get a hold of him.

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | Dunlap, You might want to try the Petenwell Flowage. There are a number of guides to select from there, Todd Forcier being one of them. Edited by gtp888 5/7/2008 8:31 PM

Posts: 1438 | Dunlap- If you don't mind a 30-45 min drive to Madison, Lambeau or I could give you the name of a couple guys that guide the Madison Chain too. If you can get out during the week instead of Saturday or Sunday it's not too bad down there. The scenery can be interesting as well based on the weather. Fishing is very good too. Scott
