Is it normal for a fully charged battery to be dead 3 weeks after charging? I charged my battery and ran my 30hp for approx. 30 min. 3 weeks ago and today when I tried to start itthe battery died. Is it time for a new battery? This battery came with the boat when I bought it last year and it looked a little old. What type of battery should I get? Would the yellow wally world battery work like people use for trolling motors? Like I said, I have a 1996 30hp, beyond that I have no clue. Thanks for the help.

Do you have a drain that is unaccounted for? GPS receiver unswitched? Lights left on? You'll need to determine if you have a draw before you go any further.

Typically, a good battery should last for quite a while with a full charge, and no drain. Take the battery to get tested. If bad, I'd contact your dealer first, and he may be able to replace it. Make sure he puts a new one in this time. Small HP motor, a dual purpose would suit you well.
