| Really pushing my buddy to get the GPS now and he went to cabellas and is thinking about the Lowrance 525. He does need a new sonar so the combo unit is the way to go for him as he can't afford two new units. I am looking though and it says it has an external antena. Now I see that there is also a 522 and a 527... Does anyone know the difference? Does a external antena work better? Or would you recomend something different at that 600ish price range? |

| The 520c has the external puck, the 522c has the internal puck. They both have the same features just one is internal and one external. Lots of people like the internal if you are lacking space to mount the antenna. If you go with teh internal make sure it has a clear field of view up. It will shot through a windshield but not a hard top boat. The 525c is the dual frequancy 50/200 khz transducer which in my opinion there is no need for unless you fish very deep water as you will get more interference with the 50khz, it has the external puck. The 527c is also dual frequency but with the internal puck. |

Location: Land of the Musky | I have the 522iGPS and love it. They had a problem with the internal antena a few years ago but fixed it. Great unit IMO. I have mine also setup for ice fishind and for transfer to rental boats. Great unit! |
