your winch strap, it really sucks when it breaks. I saw this one happen sunday and they winched it up dry and it broke again with the boat landing on the outdrive. OUCH!

Hey, I did catch my personal best on a kickin minnow no less!

And I'll bet they really appreciated you taking pictures of their "misfortune." LOL! Good tip though. A very simple thing to keep an eye on that could turn a normal day into a really crappy day in a hurry.

Hey guys, in my desperate attempt to avoid such horror, can you clarify what exactly happened here -- it looks like the winch strap is in tact, so what failed? The winch itself? What a freakin nighmare!

We have a lake near my place here in Indianapolis, that has a great restaurant RIGHT next to the public boat launch. This restaurant offers a GREAT outdoor seating area with a big wooden deck that allows you to just sit, enjoy a beverage or two and a nice meal and just watch in amazement and oversee and overhear some of the horror and pure comedy of the general public as they try to launch or load a boat from or onto a trailer. I tell ya....this is one place that domestic disputes can escalate! LOL! I could sit there for HOURS and enjoy the cheap entertainment at others expenses. It's amazing what people either do, or don't do, or forget to do, or try to do in effort to save time or cut corners and see what the results are. Pure comedy I tell ya. To us...it's all simple and an unconscious effort to load and unload a boat from a trailer. But to a LOT of people...it's a pure mystery and an Olympic event that should require scoring judges! LOL!

Hey Todd...NICE personal best! I bet that was fun! LOL! Right on....

I once saw a guy that was heavily intoxicated drive his twin 454 scarab onto the boat ramp instead of his trailer. He asked his wife if he was lined up and she said "I don't know" and he gunned it missing the trailer by about 6 ft. DNR came out with a backhoe to get him off the ramp I was told but that is hilarious. The more I am at the lake, the more people I see that can use a lesson in common sense.

The smile was from my partner and myself laughing our arses off. That thing fought better than most muskies. I duplicated the catch awhile later, yes two big carp in one day. They actually as I thought back on it, put the strap back on twice. I took this picture after they re-attached it. With that said, no way I was not getting a picture. I have sat on my camera too many times with instances like this.

They could build bleachers and sell tickets at the silver lake ramp in kenosha county. I have seen some funny stuff there.

Hey, at least I did not take a picture of the trailer sitting at lasalle lake saturday with no axle under it!

Here's a new product that is coming out to hookup the boat.Attaches the boat as you drive it on the trailer.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=00019... This is a similar idea. I just installed one on my Javelin. I haven't use it on the water yet, but it seems really slick.

Interesting device. but one question............what do you do when you are at a boat ramp with low water and you can't drive your boat on the trailer all the way? There is no way to crank it up???

It looks like the octopus will allow you to crank it up until it locks in place.
