| Pull out some green and hand it to Musky Tom Wehler.. Then you will have a trip that will show you and explain why different colors work in certian areas.. Informative and somewhat intelligent too.... LOL Don't Break the Toy! Old Goat |

| Darker colors have always worked best for me and my clients. Blue's, Purple's, Black and so on.

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Listen to Matt, He boated over 20 - 50" fish on the Big V. last season....Better yet why not book a trip with him and save yourself 4-5 days of trying to figure it out by your self.

| You can not go wrong with any color, I caught many fish on all colors, but, Crappie color, rainbow, Orange walleye cowgirl are always good colors, but the next day Pink will be hot color, then Double Orange the next day, then rainbow. If you have a few differ colors, and keep mixing them up till you get one they like. You just need to be on the Water. Its all about knowing the lake.

Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | In all my years guiding on Vermilion I have yet to find a "Magic" color for this lake. I do like the perch looking stuff and as Matt said, the darker colors do produce.
One thing is for sure, someone is catching a fish on a color that you never throw, somewhere on the lake. 
Here are some of my faves, Black/chart,
black/silver, white/
silver, white/chart,
blue/white, black/orange, green/yellow and black/gold.
Remember it's not so much what color you throw as it is where you throw them.

| The old adage bright colors on a bright day and dark colors on a dark day are a good place to start. If that isn't working then do the oposite and think outside the box. I've caught fish on every color in Vermilion but some days they do prefer a certain color over others. You just have to figure that out for yourself or hire a guide to help you with the learning curve. |

| Color doesn't matter. Just in case though, I like copper blades with walleye colored skirting on Vermilion. Anything with nickel blades has always worked for me too....Like everybody else. The white, silver or rainbow skirts with nickel, pink or white blades seem to be the easiest to see for figure eighting after dark. |
