According to one of the area guides it was around 40 degrees about a week ago. Not sure of any recent movement in temp.

well i just got back and i finally got my first muskie and what a doozie she was.
03/01/08 partly cloudy, slight breeze about 5 mph, air temp was 54* and the water temp was 39.3* (north end) and murky @ 3pm... she was 47 inch long, i didn't get a girth on her but she was as large as a soccer ball, she broke my cheapo net in half when i picked her up into the boat. now that i have that first muskie under the belt its time for a real net i only wish i could of got a picture of me holding her, only two pics i have are on my phone now how the hell do i get them to the computer????

congrats on your first musky. you will remember that for a long time. from the info in your thread it sounds like you might have put the fish on the floor of the boat. by the opinion of the vast majority of people on this website, it is never a good idea to put a fish on the dry floor, whether it be carpet or vinyl, upon capture. if i understood wrong please accept my apology. just trying to keep another fish from the same possible demise. and yes, a good quality net by frabill or beckman is a super idea for the catch and release of these fish. again congrats on a super first. the madness just got worse. sincerely, todd

That's a great fish
I'm heading to Kinkaid Saturday and hope the storms coming through don't mess it up too much.

Went to Nashville to pick up my new boat decided to drop down to kinkaid to catch the first musky of the year. I only caught one and it was as my dad was walking up to get the truck to leave for Bloomer, WI. 27" on a mag wiggle wart crank. My dad was upset that he wasnt there to see it closer, but I just yelled up that I had one so he could see it.
Also cradled a nice 42" for a couple of bass guys.
The G3 180 HP SE with the 115hp Yamaha was very nice on the water. very fast outta the hole.

I was on the water yesterday. Morning temps were 43-44 on the main lake, by afternoon, temps were 45. Mid after noon the north end avg was 47 with one spot noting a 49. Sothern bays by late noon were also pushing 47. Caught one small ski trolling the main basin on a jointed depth raider in chart pikie.
