Location: Bemidji | Has anyone used the Avet Reels for the big bladed baits? I started looking into them due to the fact that they make a left-hand model and I reel left-handed. I read very good reviews on slatwater sites, I just have never heard of the company. I talked to a company associate and she said that they are working on the 5.3:1 in a left-hand retreive that should be availble next month (they are on the webite). Those that have used the Trinidads I am anxious to hear what you have to say.
Here's the link for the 6/4:

Location: Davenport, IA | Can you get it w/ a levelwind?
On the show shark hunters east vs. west, one team is avet employees. They showed a test where they tied line to a car and drove off at 60 mph (the speed a mako can swim at). They showed that the sideplate was not hot and and the drag was working...pretty wild. Made in the US too...I like that. |

Location: London, England | I can't believe a reel without a levelwind would really work very well. I expect you could get away with a few cast and retrieves without it, but all day without thumbing the line on would be difficult. If you could manage thumbing the line on and still be in a good position for a fig 8 I'd be impressed! |

Location: Bemidji | The smaller non-levelwind reels spool themselves evenly on the retrieve. Rarely any need for moving the line back and forth with your fingers. |
