I will be in Mankato for a couple of days this July for a national conference and was wondering if there is a muskie lake nearby. I will have my boat with me since right after the conferance I am heading to LOTW for a week. I will only be able to night fish due to sessions all day, anybody want to get together? Let me know, thx much. July 17 (wed) or 18th evening.

The only lake close to Mankato with Muskies is French. It is toward Faribault from Mankato, not sure of the distance. It is a rather small lake and gets pounded pretty hard. There are a good number of big fish there and fishing it at night could prove fruitful since the pressure is mainly during the day.

Thanks much Captain, it looks to be approx 30 miles (as the crow flies). If thats the closest then it will have to work. I'll try it, thx much again.

French is a great lake. I used to fish that when I was a kid. Its about 40 minutes east of Mankato.

That little lake will surpise you![;)]
