| I started getting into smallmouth fishing this past summer at Mille Lacs......
Last year at the muskie opener on St. Germain, we saw a couple nice smallies in the shallows spawning. Is there a good population of smallies on the lake, or is it worth fishing for them? I'm sure we won't catch them like we did on Mille Lacs, but you never know. |

Location: The desert | If you see them spawning pitch a tub jig at the....they'll anhilate it. I got two 21 inchers back to back off some shallow rocks on a Northern WI lake, made for a great picture, let them go and they went right back to what they were doing. |

Location: Minocqua, WI | If you are up for some stream fishing, wading the WI river not too far south of St. Germain can be fantastic! Majority of them run 14", 16", 18" and even more!
The fishing for them can be great throughout the entire region wherever you're at, as they're not as heavily sought after like walleyes & muskies. |
