I am planning on my first August LOTW trip (been in July several times, but can't go in July this year). I've been going to Monument Bay for the last 10 years, but seeing as Jim and Lynn have sold, I need a new resort. Right now I'm considering either Sandy's or Pipestone resort. Heard a lot of good things about Sandy's, but haven't heard much about Pipestone's. Has anybody out there stayed at Pipestone's? Let me know what you think.

Ever consider Smith Camp near Kenora? It was the one and only time I went to LOTW, but it was a great place to fish from.

Try Frank Walsh at Bay Store Camp on Oak Island. He donated a week trip for the Kly memorial and the camp is 1st rate. Frank will probably be one of the guest speakers on the CHAT some Wednesday night. Go on-line and check-out the site.

I second Baystore and Frank. Not only did he donate that trip, but he also donated his whole resort for Operation Musky for the veterans. He is a genuinely good guy, and a pretty awesome stick to boot.

Gotta go with Normy and Netman on this one.  Frank is nothing but pure class.  For a guy to do what he has, donating stays and opening up his entire resort for Operatin Musky, truly says something about the man.

If Frank is booked, Ash Rapids is another great place to stay.  Excellent fishing everywhere, and just relaxing!

just down the path from Frank Walsh's Baystore is the Oak Island Resort ... i stayed there for 7 years and the people and accomodations are great too. family run by some really nice people ... with nice, clean and variable sized cabins and a lodge that can come in handy too.

If you stay on the US side make sure to get a RABC permit makes life alot easier - You will most likely have to "run" north in Aug. to escape the bloom

I agree.. I have been going to Nestor Falls since I was a kid.. Love that place.. We stay at Canadian Haven because we have kids and it is the best family friendly resort.. They are all good though..

Kyle,

I would highly recomend Witch Bay Camp. Its about 20 miles north of Sioux Narrows off of Hwy 71. The fishing was excellent thats first and foremost. Secondly I've never been to a place that works harder for the fisherman. Putting people on fish is what it is all about for these folks. Finally, and not lost on me and my family was the service from food, lodging, and just the overall atmosphere this is one of the nicest places I've ever been.

I highly recommend Mylie's resort just out of Morson, Ont. Great facilities and service. Rates are lower than most, and the fishing in the area is unbelievable!
Ask for Justin, he'll take care of whatever your needs are...
