Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone has tried the 'SmartLink' split rings for musky fishing?

Here is the website:

Thanks,

Not sure I want my first 50" fish on that split ring? They also only have split rings for line test up to 30lbs. Don't know what that means for the split ring but my reels have 65lb, 80lb and 100lb line on them and I can move some big rocks/snags with that line.

Can't say that I would trust a split ring that's designed to open up to free your lure from snags, even if it were rated at a higher strength. I've had enough of the good quality rings open up a bit from a thrashing fish. No thanks for me on this one!

Truthfully, I wouldn't want to use those rings on anything, much less musky tackle. It says the technology will not allow them to open on your trophy or something along those lines. Well, if they release by weight, weight is weight, whether it be a fish or a snag. I'd buy a lure retreiver...
