| something i like to do is to open up each of the various sites that carry the product (Rollie & Helen's, Thornes, Bass Pro, Cabela's, etc.).
i go through the order process at each site but stop right before submitting/paying.
whatever place has the cheapest total cost (price + tax + shipping) is the one i go with.
it's surprising how difference there can be in the tax and shipping charges!

| Call Thorne Brothers... ask them if they will throw in free shipping and maybe a discount... my bet is that they will. If they dont then call or go online to Reed's. Deals for St Croix Rods are not suppose to happen... cause St Croix frowns on it, but I can promise you I have NEVER paid "retail" for one yet. But you need to talk to them and just ask.
Oh... and as Justin suggested...get a longer rod. 8' and longer is the only way to go for most applications.

Location: Lebanon,Mo | It wouldnt hurt to call the Bass Pro Shops outlet store down here in Sprinfield,Mo. They get returns on all kinds of goodies(wrong size, gift return, damage, etc) might not have something today, but doesnt hurt to check back from time to time.I was able to get my hands on two St croix rods(brand new with wrap still on them) for 50% off.And also picked up a Shimano 8ft Compre that had a new tip installed (with wrap still on) for $50.00...........i dont have there number handy, but the 800 number will direct you. And as far as needing a 8ft rod is personal preference.A short guy(like me) in low profile boat might not benefit from a 8ft.er as well as a 6'6". it also depends on the bait your throwing also. thought this would help.....Fred. |
