I recently got a Garmin GPS for the car. I was curious about leaving it in my vehicle on cold winter days ( I live in MN.) so I contacted Garmin Tech support. They advised that they only have tested these units from plus 32 - plus 140 degrees. Something to think about, when storing your boat GPS/Locators this winter.

I just had mine stolen out of the car, the units sitting there are essentially asking for trouble. I'd advise storing when not in use.

As for boat units, I took all my electronics off and stored inside in one of those Plano reel cases inside the house. I know where they are and not possibly getting any exposure/condensation/theft, etc. What's the old adage..."an ounce of prevention"?

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water
All of our electronics go inside my "boat bag" including the foot pedal, H3O's, Chips, Spare release tools, and other items. The Boat bag goes with me no matter if it is our boat or not. All those items have become handy when i'm a guest on someone else's ride.

I take my electronics off in winter just because I am more comfortable with them being in the house then out in the garage but the cold weather will not bother them. I have used my Lowance 332 in -35 degree weeather and have had it on the dash of my truck for 3 years now without a single problem.
