| I have a 2005 1850 Fish Hawk.I currently have a 150 opti, plus a bowmount trolling motor. I want to add a kicker for trolling. My question is for those who have a similar setup. What kind of trolling speeds could I expect with an older 7.5 hp. merc. 2 strk. vs. a newer 9.9 pro kicker. The merc. 7.5 is a late 70's model, and I was wondering if I could put a High thrust 4 blade prop. on it like the newer motors have? Thanks |

| I think you can troll down to a reasonable speed with that 7.5. It is a two stroke, so it will be louder, smoke and smell more, plus you'll have to carry a separate tank of mixed gas. Not sure what is available for props, and I'm not sure if the 6 pitch, 4 blade will fit. The 9.9 Pro Kicker trolls down to 1 bit over 1 to 1 1/2 MPH on my Tuffy 1890. I can slow it to 1/2 MPH with my two drift socks off the front cleats. Love the power tilt on the ProKicker. |

| Heff,
We've got a C-liner 1850 Fishhawk with a 135 Merc and 9.9 Bigfoot 4-stroke. Not sure what I can idle at (never looked) but with two people (plus dog) and gear, max speed is about 6 mph. 3.0-4.0 is a piece of cake and still pretty quiet. Anything above 4.5 the motor really gets loud (not sure what that's about, might be a whole issue in and of itself...). |
