When I was on the road a lot two summers ago now, I was able to use both the Garmin and the Lowrance models. My co-worker had a Garmin model, can't remember which model off hand. But, the Garmin was extremely user friendly. Very easy to operate and learn how to use it's functions quite easily. However, I used the Iway 500 by Lowrance the most. Has tons of great features, I personally wouldn't say it's as easy as the Garmin, but defintely had more features. The thing I liked about the Iway, was the features, I didn't even get to use half of them seeing I didn't own the unit myself, but man were they neat. But if your looking for something easy to use, and will get you to point A to point B, the Garmin is probably the route I would go. Price wise the Garmin would also be the way to go. The Iway is anywhere from $500-$1500 pending the features you get.

Some reviews are bit bias, but for most part you'll find some quality information in there.

Here's your tomtom one, with a nice video review.

Also you can keep tabs here for a some good deals.

Take a look at the Mio Digiwalker. They use the same maps as TomTom and are much cheaper. They also have the SIRF III receiver. The mapping software is fairly intuitive and seems to be easier to use than others I've tried.

I like them because they're really slim and you can easily throw them in a shirt pocket when you leave your car. I have two and have used one every day for well over a year and have been nothing but pleased. They're also customizable, if you have some basic tech knowledge. I think I paid $200, but I know Pepboys and Circuit City have them for less than $100 on black friday. Pretty tough to beat for that price.
