I am a fair haired person, and burn easily. There is melanoma in my family history, so I am very careful to use sunscreen and a good hat and shirt.

Problem is I don't like being all 'greasy'. Anyone have a good sunscreen they can recommend that is not made from the drain plug drippings a '74 Suburban?[] [:sun:]

Try to get a hold of Paul klien and ask him what he has. I fished with him twice, and he has some stuff that is pretty good. It will actually clean your skin when you put it on. There must be some alcohol in it.

Try any of the "dry" lotions usually marketed as "Sport" lotions. They dry quickly and you can get the grease off of your hands easily so there's no fear of tossing the rod-n-reel in the drink. I have been using Coppertone Sport for years, sold in blue bottles last time I checked.

Steve,

I'm in the same boat as you are on this subject...except I'm bald as you know...."fair haired"....sounds like a well behaved rabbit to me....[]

I have been looking for the same product for a few years..sick of that white greasy sh**...I found a product at the store the other day that is dryer and less greasy, I'll bring some to Clear Lake with me and we can give it a try..

If you find out what Paul is using let us know...

Hiya,
I've used Banana Boat Gel the last couple years, seems to work fine, not greasy at all, doesn't wash off from boat spray, and if it can keep me from frying, it should work for anyone.

Skin cancer's bad stuff folks. Have had two 'suspicious-looking' spots removed already, and have another that needs to go, and I'm in my early 30's only. Don't forget your lips either. Ask Don Pursch...

Actually I am serious! The GEL RK mentioned is good also...get 1 of each + use them; check ingredients as they will most likely be the same. At least they won't run off of you in the heat, but don't get the stuff in your eyes![:sun:]

Steve,

I can definitely recommend Bullfrog. I have fairly light Irish skin. I used to race bicycles in Texas under the hot sun all day and Bullfrog worked great. I never had a problem with it getting in my eyes and burning.

Coppertone Sport works as well but seemed just a little bit greasier (but not much), It is also cheaper than Bullfrog.

Coppertone sport in the 30 or 48 variety offer protection like you are wearing a long sleeve shirt and long pants. Bullfrog is good too.

I think the Bullfrog sunblock is good stuff. Can't stand it when I sweat and my eyes start stinging. I' ve had that happen with other stuff but not the Bullfrog. I am a fairskinned Irishman in case the name didn't give it away.[]

A name like Matthew Collins probably won't get you into to many synagogues or mosques. Of course neither will Michael Francis Quigley (me).[]
