Water Temps were in the 44-45 range and it was a little windy. Greg Thomas put us on some fish, I missed a pair of mid 40's and Ken Rainer boated a 51 1/2 that weighed 38Lbs. Nothing but bulldogs and rocks.

We were pulling up to the spot to see you guys net that fish. Congrats to Ken on a beauty. We released a 53 1/2 that we didn't catch. LOL. Steve

Our group was up there Saturday and Sunday. Caught 4 Saturday, hooked and lost a couple Sunday.

At sunset on Saturday, my boat partner James caught his first musky, 44". After about 10-15 minutes of high fives, we slid back up on the same rock spot right at last light. Second or third cast, I hooked this monster on a Storm Kickin' Minnow. Tried it because everyone else and their brother was fishing a bulldawg. She kind of liked the idea.

Measured 56x26, one of the largest spotted muskies guys tell me they've heard of out of Mille Lacs.

You're a very lucky man sir!
If you don't mind me asking what kind of retrieve did she hit on? I've been throwing one as well and have only caught pike with a steady occasional rip retrieve.

The retrieve was slow and steady. No twitches, no dips, no nothing.

Thanks for the confidence boost when throwing this bait. I love the action just haven't caught what I'm looking for.
Enjoy your muskie dreams overhaul!

Nice fish.. I believe we had this fish follow up on Saturday morning (We heard were it was caught on Saturday, and that would be the same location), trolling motor died (again, this time the main board went out) and we spent prime time dinking around with the motor.. Congrads on a nice fish!!!
Everyone put your dawgs away, pull out the cheaper baits!!!

My Net Man was James, a young guy from work, who had never musky fished before. (Or netted a musky.) The good news is that James is like 6'7" and with the largest Beckman in his hands you've got maybe a half-mile netting zone.

He was great. Got the net, stood his ground and listened. I was talking VERY quietly, telling him I was turning the fish to bring him right down his side of the boat, trying not to panic him, like a guy on the bomb squad would talk to a citizen who had to cut the red wire.

He got it done. It's okay if you let him marry your daughter, but then she's fishing with us too.
