If anyone needs a boat partner, I'd be willing to fly out for this one. To far of a drive for me though.

Nevermind, no reason to get on a plane to dodge jetskiers all weekend.

Traffic on Tonka? Don't be ridiculous. []

Personally, I think the traffic 'problem' is overrated. If it's 2pm on a sunny weekend, yeah, it can get irritating. Otherwise, it seems city folk are too lazy to get up before noon.[]

I'm in and I've got room on the deck of the carrier. I'm pretty green about the lake though[]

I agree with CMUNGER! It is overrated as a traffic problem. I fished the Fox chain last year......Now THAT is a traffic problem. It is the same as any other recreational lake except it has some bigger boats. The lake itself has many different areas to fish and I have never been NOT able to find a place to fish. I've also been on one of the main points that have boats cruising by at all times and have still caught fish....The fish don't care. Minnetonka is a typical metro lake....Lots of traffic, some idiots, but it has a ton of fish and a few dinosaurs as well!

Halleleuia to that. Two years ago I was in 6-7 ft of water near that island/point (forget the name), and some drizzlehead came through in his 50' something or other at just the perfect speed and I banged my trolling motor on bottom. Coulda surfed on that wake. Good thing I saw it coming or one of us woulda been in the water, I'm sure.

I fished there more then probably anyones else on this board last year and I will admit that on the weekends there can be a nasty recreation crowd. I will also say that there are soooooo many other spots on the lake that don't get pounded by boats and fishermen that there is now excuse to not fish this event. If you disagree, then you don't know the lake. Just take a lake map, mark Lord Fletchers, Maynards, Sunsets, and hangout beach on Big Island. Then draw the routes from each point to each other. Now say out of those areas and you should be reasonably fine. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
