Rollie and Helens tournament I see has a $360 entry fee with $10 off the top to the DNR and 47,500 payout on 150 boats.

PMT entry is $450 and limited to 150 boats, what moneys do they return to the resource and what's the payout on PMT tournaments? Also what's the payout for WI tourney trail events and the MN cash tourneys? Some of these newbys wanting to become tournament stars might just want to comparison shop. I know if I was going to fish tournaments I would want to have the best chance at maximizing my return on investment.

Also I had heard but not verified that there was a substantial sum that was payed out by Moorehead to hold the tournament at Cave Run for a three year run? Is that verifiable? Do all these areas PAY to have tournaments run on their local lakes, or is that just a myth?

I also note on R&H's tourney that you can put cash in your pocket down to 18th place, what does the PMT pay, down to 20 places or 25?
What are your chances of breaking even at least on the entry fee on some of the other cash tournaments? Just thought some of this would be interesting and useful info for anglers wanting to become famous via the tourney trail.

FSF,

Great question! The PMTT is by far the highest profile tournaments. But they also only pay down 10 spots. But do have a free entry invitational at the end of the year if you qualify as one of the top 50 teams. Rollie and Helen's charges an extra $10.00 per team that is given directly back to the WI DNR. I'm not sure what the PMTT is doing. To fish the entire PMTT is not cheap. You can budget approx. $1000.00 per tournament and you may still fall short. As far as payback....NOONE comes close to what Rollie & Helen payback! If someone does...let me know.

If you're planning on fishing any Muskie tournament to become a famous fisherperson.... you might not want to do it. If you want to have a approx 1 in 150 chance at winning $15,000 - $20,000 and perhaps see new water & meet some crazy fisherman I'd reccomend trying out Rollie & Helen's, The PMTT, one of the MN Muskie Tournaments.

Good luck,

Jason, I would tell you more about how to become famous tournament fishing, however it is difficult to speak with my tongue firmly stuck in cheek as it is...[;)]

I think this year the PMTT will pay out down to 12th place. What the PMTT brings is $$$ to the local area. I think that some of the chamber of commers do and other's would pay out to have a PMTT event in there area.

While the individual or qualifing tounement's are not payed down as far as some tournement's, with the PMTT you have a chance to fish in the championship and have a shot a $30,000.00.
