| I know there is a topic on warm boots, just wondering what folks recommend for warm socks.. I get use to running my trolling motor bare foot in the summer, now I have to start using lightweight boots, and I really try to use lightweight boots all the way through the end of the season.. Any suggestions on socks that will help me with my light weight boots for warmth? I looked at a couple gore tex socks at Gander last night for about $14 per pair, are these much better than standard wool socks? |

| Never tried Gore Tex, but I'd think Polypro or wool would be better, something to wick moisture away from your feet.
I wear the Wigwam wool socks in really cold weather. Smells like a homeless person slept in your boots at the end of the day, but I like being able to feel my toes.

Location: Wheeling, IL. | There is a new type pf spck I have bought at Dicks. It is multie layered. Inside is something like poly pro to keo dry and outer layer is usually similar to a wool. I wear them fishing year around and they are great.

| i prefer a polypro or silk sock liner (a very thin moisture-wicking base layer) with a pair of heavier wool or synthetic socks over the top.
Black Mountain socks by Gean-Edwards are particularly good ones (and it's a local Wisconsin company ).

| Try the Ingenius BOOT sock. They are are less bulky then your typical 100% wool sock and provide the needed warmth and support for all day walking. |

| One thing to note:
When trying on boots/socks (ok nobody tries on socks, I know) make sure you leave some room! A well fitting pair of boots with normal socks becomes a tight fitting pair of boots with heavy (like wool) socks. If your boots are tight, your feet WILL get cold no matter what.
Only one thing worse than cold feet and that's cold WET feet. |

| I USE ONE THIN POLY SOCK AND A HEAVIER POLY THE WEIGHT OF A HEAVY COTTON SOCK IN WOLVERINE 1200 GRAM BOOTS AND AM GOOD TO -20 ICE FISHING WITH MY FEET ON THE ICE. |
