I have been searching options for different boats. Which Tuffy would be recommended for Mille Lacs rough water. Does the 2060 also ride close to the water as far as casting goes? Again thanks for any tips or comments.

Both the 1890 and 2060 would be great Mille Lacs muskie boats. The 1890 has a slightly lower profile than the 2060, but not by much. I fish muskies out of my 2060 alot and never do I feel like it isn't "low" enough.

Both of these boats have massive front decks that will easily fish 2 anglers casting.

I spend a ton of time in my office, a Tuffy 1890. It performs very well in rough water, maybe not quite as well as a 2060, but it has handled any four footer I have had it in. It is also an awesome musky platform, lots of front deck, and if you want (I did) a removeable rear casting deck.

here's a link to video of my 1890 running some good waves on Leech Lake.
that boat handles the rough stuff great. it'll get you where you want to go and back again.

When a person buys a Tuffy, is Mercury the only choice you get? On our current boat we have a 115 Yamaha and the motor has been great. Thanks for any responses.

you can get any motor you'd like on a Tuffy.
they're out there with Mercs, Suzukis, Evinrudes, Johnsons, Yamahas, etc.
it just depends on the particular brand of motors carried by the dealer you buy the boat through.

here's a thread about that exact question from the Tuffy Boats forum:

I know for sure they will put either a Mercury or Suzuki on them. However, I believe you can put anything on them, just a matter of a marina that sells Yamaha. Both the Mercury and Suzuki fourstrokes have been pretty good! I wouldn't overlook either.

Thank you both for enlightening me. I think we will try and find a dealer close to our area and at least take a look at the Tuffy brand. Certainly seems to be a lot of people on this board that like them. Thanks again!

I live in Forest Lake Mn. Outside the Twin Cities. The closest dealer looks to be Trego Wi. Thanks again for the help. I appreciate it!
