Two seasons now i have been repairing my dawgs with a product called carlsons fishing glue, its a crazy glue for soft plastic baits, the bass heads use it all the time.Im telling ya guys this stuff is great,i havent thrown a dawg away since, even if the tail gets bit off i glue on a big muskie sized grub an i am back in action. Many fish on one bait, when i get home after a good day on the water i just sit down and repair all the cuts, tears and rips and the bait is good to go.Just be carful you dont glue your hands to the bait, the stuff dries super fast and strong, give it a try it will save ya tons.

I pretty sure at your local sporting goods store. I googled {carlson's "fishing glue"} and found the company. It looks like the same glue that you can pick up at any fishing store.

I picked mine up at bass pro but i am sure any good tackle dealer will have it or can get it for you.I have personally used only the carlsons glue but i think any of the soft plastic glues will work.Several companys make this type of glue,i dont know if they are better or worse i have only tried that one brand.

Just make sure that the glue will hold under water.

Hawg Seekers Tackle makes some great glue that does a great job as well. The best I've seen. Plus, it's great when you're in a hurry to get back in the water as it's dry and ready to go in 10 seconds.

I haven't tried the Hawg Seekers stuff, but the Carlson's Fishin Glue in my opinion works only fair. I think in a pinch it will do pretty well, but if you plan to use your Dawg the rest of the day and you're having problems with it 30 minutes into your outing there is no substitute for a lighter. I had the chance to use a surgical caudering tool this weekend that was pretty good, not great for big tears but it did the trick.

If you've got a little more time on your hands try melting the tears back together and then taking pieces of a small twister tail and reinforcing the tears. Seems to work well when the tail falls off and you're left with a weak link even when you melt it back on. Do the same to the front of the bait if the head starts to split. Not a lot of material at the tip of the bait.

I also prefer melting but I use a torch and an old fillet knife. Takes a little time but has seemed to work well.

I heat the tip and use it to close the rip if its a deep one, say when you rip the belly open. I start deep and work my way out with the blade. Lasts longer than the glue when you open the belly up on one.
