| Anyone out there have this rod? I've been looking at it as a twitch/topwater rod. I'm also considering two others along side it, the loomis 844, and the Dback 7'3".
I've done a little reading about the rod, and it seems like it is a topwater beast, also adept with throwing doubles.
Any first hand knowledge? |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I have a 7'6 MH Premier. I had the Avid, but I felt for the money it was not worth it. Bought the rod used, and sold it for more than I bought it for. I use the premier for both, twitch/and top water, mainly top water though. It's one of my best all around rods I have, other than my 8' MH. But from my experience, the Avids are just not worth it. Maybe that's why there discontinuing this year or whenever, but I know there done with that line of rods soon. But still a very good rod, just not worth the money in my opinion. |

| I have that rod and i love it.I throw bucktails, spinnerbaits, shallow dawgs,small joes heavy jigs you name it.This is one of my staple rods that i find in my hands an awfull lot,the other four rigs on the deck get awfull jealous.I personally like it alot more than my 7'6" premier mainly due to its handle lenght which i just find to be a little more comfotable to me due to its shorter length.I dont think youll be disapointed in any way with that stick. |

| Solid stick. It's great for throwing gliders (including WTD topwaters).
That said, I probably won't own another because of the tiny butt section (opposite of kawartha kid's preference). Doesn't feel comfortable. However, I think it would be a great rod for the applications you mentioned. |

| I have one and liked it quite a bit before going to even longer rods. I'd be willing to sell it at a good price if interested. I used it for cranks, bucktails and jigging fuzzys. Good all around rod except for the real heavy stuff. |

| Hey, gents thanks for the Advice. I had the rod in my hands prior to the weekend, and fished it over the weekend. It does JUST what I wanted it to. I also started throwing some smaller gliders on it, and did really well. (IE 6" Reefhawgs/ cobbs) Might have been just a tad heavy of baits for the rod, but it did just fine working them. The primary purpose of the rod was topwaters/cranks/twitching, and the topwater end of things is covered. Works a jackpot better than anything I've ever used. I'm happy with the rod. |

| The only St Croix I have left. No comparison on the Avid over the Premier. The Avid is much lighter, and better tip. Plenty of backbone. Did I say it was lighter? The know betwix the shoulder blades I used to get within hours with the Premiers, came much later in the day.
That said, that knot is gone forever since wswitching to Fig Rigs. |

| They're not discontinuing the Avid series, they're revamping/upgrading it. The new avid series will have one of the features that used to be only available in the tourney series on up. I think the Avids are fantastic, and I love the lifetime warranty. |

| Excellent rod for casting bucktails, i use primarily harassers and kdc. also works great for my topwater lures. i do not throw many cranks, i would imagine it working well for average sized cranks. |

| ps. i also have the tournament series lipstick (me ma works at croix!), a comparable rod to the 7'6" avid. it is a tad more flexible. i choose the avid over the lipstick every day out. |

| I own a PM76MHF and like the rod very much. I used it pretty extensively for lighter stuff as well as ripping small to mid sized twitch baits. I had been using this rod for the past 2 to 3 years. This year I Bought the PM80MHF and like that even better. The 8'0" has more backbone and works well for just about anything including bulldawgs. A little light for throwing the big 13" Suzy Suckers, I use a PM76HF for that. I converted the 76MHF to a jerk bait rod and it works pretty well for that. |
