OK
So I bought a Grunt lure off of E-pay, How are these lure supose to run. Do you put a split ring on the front eye? or do you put a split ring on the lip. or do you just hook your snap to the front eye?

I hooked my snap to the front eye and the lure runs to the left, thump thump thump. Then all of a sudden it dashes about 5 feet to the right and thumps a couple more times then it dashes back to the left. There really is no rhyme or reason behind this lure, it runs all over the place, is this normal or does my Grunt have a problem?

If I bend the lip away from the body it blows out of the water at 2.5 mph, the lip has to be tight to the body or it won't work at all.

Any thoughts.

I'm not familiar with how the Grunt is supposed to run, but it sounds to me like you got a winner right there!!

The guy would produces Grunt Lures is on this forum all of the time and I am guessing that any minute he is going to swoop down and tell you all that you need to know about tuning his lures (vive le Grunt!)

That's kind of what I thought. LOL
But
Most crank baits like a 14" jake or 13" grandma run true, such as thump thump striaght in line none of this dive, rise and dash kind of stuff. I'll try a big split ring and see if that helps.

Ok-- so I tried a split ring and it made a big difference, it runs deeper and seems to stay down, it still dashes to the right and left after a few thumps but not as bad as before. I think I'll try it like it is.
