I've got to give kudos to Abu Garcia and Pure Fishing.
My wife had some trouble with the drag on an Abu-matic spin cast reel, then the insides fell apart, so we sent it back and they sent us a brand new one. Nice! But then she had the drag hang up on THAT one, so I sent it back and asked if they'd consider replacing it with an equivalent value spinning reel.....and they DID! Nice looking Cardinal reel, very smooth action, immediate anti-back wind....Wow!
My sincere thanks to the Team there for looking out for their customers (we own 2 Abu bait casters and love them).

I just sent back a record and a 7000 for repair....the replaced a TON of stuff (itemized list) and FEDEX'ed the reels back to me....free of charge. This were relatively new reels, but I fish hard.

This isn't the first time I have had great service from abu...and another reason why I have a ton of thier reels. also they are one of the few that make retarded...I mean left handed reels.

If I only fished 1 or 2 weeks a year, my abus would last a couple of lifetimes. But because I fish so much, things will break, I don't care what brand it is. Besides, I can get several reels for the price of those other brands.

I also have nothing but great things to say about the Abu service. Whether I am purchasing parts or getting a reel repaired.

All reel companies have reels that break. The difference is how many of there reels are out there. Conservativly speaking there are at least 10 yimes as many Abu's sold into the musky market than any other brand of reel out there so of course you are going to hear about more problems with Abu's just like you hear more problems about Chevy's than you do with Mercadies.

You also have a few vocal people who have a thing about trying to knock Abu whenever possible. One of them is sponsored by another reel company that has a ton of problems but they sell so few of there reels that you never hear about them.

I'll also give kudos to Abu Garcia and Pure Fishing. I've been fishing for many years and have used all kinds of rods and reels..and ...always seem to find myself coming back to the simple stuff that's a lot more affordable and more enduring than the others. I've sent reels back to Abu and have had great service as well with repairs. Not sure how some get repairs done for free vs. someone like myself that always has to pay upwards of $60 bux to have a few reels fixed? I don't mind paying to have them fixed, it's worth every penny to have them fixed...I wouldn't expect anything less really...but...it does make me wonder how some get theirs fixed for free and others have to pay? Odd....
