| What is the best way to fish this bait? I realize it is a veritical jigging action, but how long and fast of a pull is best. Any other tips? |

Location: Palm Coast, FL | Randy Bush and myself just did a presentation on this. We use different tactics depending on what we see on our graphs. Generally we use a sharp jerk 3-4 ft. pull. Let the bait fall with light tension still on the rod. If we see a fish looking at the bait on our graph:
jig faster
longer
shorter and harder
swim the bait along the side of the boat while jigging (front to back of boat) |

Location: Grand Rapids MN | Just curious, has anyone used the Giant Darter from Salmo for vertical jigging? I tried the smaller version this past winter for walleye and pike and actually did well on them and gained some confidence in it. I just haven't got to the point of jigging for muskies yet but maybe this fall I may have to try it.

Location: Twin Cities | I'm with Vince -- change things up if you aren't having success. In general you'll find me using 2-3 foot pulls, and letting the bait drop with slight tension on the line. I suggest heading to your favorite numbers lake and playing with these lures a bit. I needed to catch a few to have confidence to use these on a trophy fishery where feedback is minimal.
