| Just bought a new 24v Terrova trolling motor. I am rigging it up and my current wiring has inline 40amp fuses for a old 12v. My new one suggest that I put an inline 50 amp circuit breaker which is tape to my trolling motor with a warning sign. Question is if I would just go out a purchase 50 amp fuses would that be the same as a breaker. I know if she blows I would have to replace the fuses instead of hitting a reset there is a spare fuse holder already mounted to the wire . The manual say's That I should have a 60amp circuit breaker. Talk about confusing? |

| You could probably get by with the 40 amp breakers, If you don't go to full power, or run you batterys down too far. Yes, you can use fuses in place of the breaker. They sell the breakers at Fleet Farm, Gander Mountain, and Cabela's. You dealer should also have them.
After spending the dollars on the Terrovs, I'd go with the Circuit Breaker. |

Do you know how much circuit breakers cost. I hate to be cheap after spending $1200.00 But I would think the fuses would work and save it from burning the motor...... But it would be just as easy to hit a reset instead of replaceing Fuses
Thanks for the Help |

| I think the breakers they sell are Auto Reset. You can get them at just about any Auto Parts store, too. About $10-$15 at Auto stores. I think they were like $25 or so at Fleet, Gander, etc. Not sure at dealer.
Give Bob a call at Mr Marine, in Fond du Lac. He stocks them, and will send them out. 920-921-7070. Tell him I sent you.
The fuse will work just as well, however, you'll have to carry spares, and replace if you blow them. The biggest reason to use a circuit protective device is to protect the conductors, and prevent a fire in case of a short circuit. It's secondary function is to protect the TM.
