Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I just lucked into a 16' fiberglass pointed on both ends row boat this last weekend and need to get it rigged up for row trolling.
Wondering if wood, aluminum or plastic oars are better?
good Wood are $23
good Plastic are $38
What would be the reason(s) for using anything besides wood? I get the varnish thing, but I can take care of them well.
What kind of oar locks are best?
I'm leaning towards stainless w/ plastic bushings
I'm thinking about getting a smaller deep cycle for the electronics to run the sonar/gps, lights and a small trolling motor for moving when not rowing. I think trying to minimize weight would be important to keep the daft of the boat as little as possible and the effort to row. Or doesn't it matter that much?
Is just a bench seat and cushion good enough or is a slider seat with a back better? does a slider seat make it difficult to work rods and fish?
what about someplace for your feet to go to get leverage? I would think that would help.
I plan on just getting more flush mounts for my scotty rod holders.
Is it that important to go with wire line or lead core or can I just let more line out with my spiderwire and maybe use some extra lead to get my baits down?
Thanks for any help.
