LOL, sometimes it's just too tempting!

Tonka started out really slow, as it always does, however the recent cooler weather has turned things on a bit. I'm noticing more and more fish showing on the outer weed edges and most have been pretty hot, hitting at or near boatside. In the past two outings I've CPR'd a mid 20's (my smallest ever), 40", and 51". Until this year I had never seen any ski's under 36" there so I'm very optimistic about stocking efforts and future year classes.

August should be better but there is certainly fish to be caught now if you put the time in. Good luck!

I fished North Metro Muskies Inc's League last night and caught a 37.5" and lost a 40-42" fish. Outside weedline. Water Temps on the surface were bad (83) but by 9:30 they were aproaching 79 degrees. We need a long cool spell. This is the highest I have seen on Tonka. Our league is now on hold until the last 3 tuesday nights in August (because of the water temps).

Good Luck

Tonka Boy,

You're seeing some smaller fish because the TC chapter and the DNR has been putting some bigger fish in the lake. If you're not an MI member you should check it out as we're really trying to keep that fishery at the high level that it's at.

I did see the stocking pics on their site & think it's a great thing. I really should stop in for a meeting one of these days.

Fellas,

If you wouldn't mind, when you see/catch one of those mid 20" fish on Tonka post the location here or PM myself or treats and that info will be passed on to the right person. You could also call 952.826.6755. The West Metro Fisheries guys would like to know where/if these fish have spread to within the lake as they were stocked at several locations. The information could then be used to direct locations of suture stocking events.

Thanks,
Mike
