Hi, I will be in the Wausau area the weekend of July 27th, 28th and 29th as my daughter has a basketball tournament in Wausau. Nothing against the girls but I would rather not hang out and go shopping when games are not being played. Here's my thought. If I hook up the boat and throw the musky gear in, where would be a good place to cast a line? I don't mind a little drive and had thought about checking the Minocqua area but thought I would check here first for any suggestions. Thanks, Ken

Rhinelander and Minocqua are an hour away, lots of options up here. if you stick around Wausau I am sure there is some good fishing on the Wisconsin, or head down to the Petenwell.

Thanks for the reply. I am kind of leaning towards the Minocqua area. Anyone need a seat that weekend? I have the boat, maybe we can meet and fish.

Maybe as in I have no schedule yet for games and will try to fish when my daughter is not playing basketball.

You might want to think about Lake Wasau as there are some big muskies in that pond. BG

Second Lake Wausau, and the WI River.

Stop in at Gander, and see Justin Gaiche. I'm sure he will help out with patterns and locations. He's pretty good up there.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I never thought about Lake Wausau. I appreciate the help guys. Now if I could just get the schedule so I know when I will be able to fish. I guess I am just a freak when it comes to planning and being organized! Thanks again to all. Ken

I would avoid Lake DuBay until you get out there with someone who knows the water (which are few). That is like driving a boat through a meat grinder. Lake Wausau has some navigational hazards but most shallow areas are identified by weed beds at this time. These area waters are very good as our guides have pulled fish 45", 46", 46.5" and 47.5" in the last week. Feel free to come visit me at Gander anytime, always willing to help you get started.
