Random quote: A couple of young fellers were fishing at their special pond off the beaten track when out of the bushes jumped the Game Warden. Immediately, one of the boys threw his rod down and started running through the woods like a bat out of hell, and hot on his heels came the Game Warden.

I am looking to get some new split ring pliers. I have been using the small Rapala pliers that I ground down the nose. These need replacing, any recommendations before I get a new pair of Rapala’s?

rollie and helens in minocqua has a black handled pair that are AWESOME.
I have used the shimano's and have 2 pairs but these black handled pair are a little smaller and work better imo.
try rollie and helens...i think 10 -12 bucks or something like that

Wal-Mart, 8 dollars. I'm guessing I have done more than 4,000 rings with mine and they work like the day I bought them.

Used to think Rapalas was good till I tried Xuron. Best pliers I ever used. Staminas has them.

2 votes for the Walmart brand. Can't be beat.

3 votes for the Walmart pliers if they're the same ones I have. I paid 5 or 6 dollars for them and my friend who bought a $15 pair, uses mine whenever we go out. I was iffy at first, but definitely worth it. I can't think of the company name right now, but it seems like it was something with Great Lakes or Superior....I'm not sure. It was in a blue package I remember that.

Love the Shimano pliers.
Tougher than your average pair of pliers.
