| I'm currently running a 97 Esox Ltd and had a 94 Roustabout prior to that. I've enjoyed fishing from both boats and looking forward to buying my third Tuffy. My only problem is I'm trying to decide between an Esox Magnum, an Esox 1700, or an Esox 1760. I know I definitely want a tiller and mostly fish northern WI waters with an annual trip to Canada. I've heard lack of hp complaints on running the 60 horse on the 1700 therefore I was considering the 1760 with the 75 horse?????? I still like the Esox Magnum, but was considering deep-v's for fishing bigger waters. Any input would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Location: Des Moines IA | 1760 is alot more boat than the 1700 in my opinion. 75 is definately underpowered. I saw a 1760 tiller on here with a 90 on it? I think it's uptown's boat actually. Don't know how he got a 90 on a boat rated for 75 though? |

| I read that also, a 90 horse on a 1760...interesting. I wonder if Tuffy plans on addressing the hp limitations deep-v models in 2008? |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I ran a 1700 last year, and I'm in a 1760 this year. Before running the 1760 I would have said that you're only getting 10" more in the 1760, but the truth is you're getting a whole lot more boat. The added width PLUS the added length really changes the way the boat fishes, and how it runs. Both my boats were consoles so I cant speak to the power ranges but my 1700 with a 90 Suzi on it ran pretty strong. With three in the boat plus a full live well it was a bit slow to get on plane though. |

Location: Madtown, WI | I had a esox magnum before I got my 1760 like 5 years ago.
I have a 4 stroke 75... No way would I say its under powered at all. The only time it has had ANY problems was a full tank of gas and 4 guys...then I thought it was a little slow getting up and out....
BUT...I run 35-37 mph with it.....
I got the 1760 for the same reason you are thinking.....I was on Mendota (9000 acre lake I think) in november fighting 3 footers to try and fish a spot....mags are great boats...but not the best for a 9000 acre lake in november....I bought a 1760 the following spring and fell in love....
I fish many types of waters with it from Lake Michigan....eagle lake canada...to 100 acre lakes up north....awesome boat...not to big...but far from small!!!! I have fished 4 out if it in canada before...
can't go wrong with the 1760 for the applications your mentioning...

| i ran the 1760 GT tiller last year and highly recommend it. it's w-i-d-e open: tons of storage and more fishable inch-for-inch than any boat in it's class.
the Magnum is a great boat, but i think the 1760 is every bit as stable, offers nearly/extremely good access to the water, and has the added advantage of the deep-V hull which will help on those annual trips to bigger water.
my suggestion would be to pair it with a 75hp Merc Opti, this will give you plenty of low-end punch to get up on plane and run at speed under a full load.
it's a matter of choosing between good and good. enjoy!

| Thanks for the input. I guess it's decision time. I see Woodland Marine is closing, so I'll have to find another good Tuffy dealer-I'm in Chicago. |
