Why not use judge boats and make it 100% release?

Most of the guys who fish St Clair tounaments are very strict on catch and realease and have live wells and custom made tanks equipped on thier boats to revive and run fish in to the scale and are consistantly able to sucessfully release the fish after they are registered.I am a member of the Michigan Ontario Musky Club and our club has put alot of time and money into a revive tank that we measure and weight the fish in. When the fish arrives at the dock it comes out of the fishermans live well into the measureing tank then back to the boats live well and back in the lake .We also have a club member that makes custom live wells to fit your needs. We know and respect the fishery we have here and give 100% effort to keep making it better. If anyone is interested in seeing the MOMC tank or get info on the guy that makes live wells or plans for a homemade live well you can contact a director of the MOMC at www.lscmomc.com.As for judge boats it would be pretty tough to cover 430 sq. miles of water.By the time the judge found your boat you could have already been to the scale and had the fish realeased

heres the deal. its un fortunate to kill fish yearly. actually the momc cpr rate is dismal.. very few have the revival tanks. with nearly 400 members how many have tanks, even the tanks are not the answer after running a fish 19 miles to be weighed. i have witnessed dumpster dumping in the past and dead releses poked to sink.. momc has monthly tournaments along with the yearly big fish. sorry guys you need to do more. the public in michigan dont approve of 60,s stlye fishing. alpha fish need to be saved for spawners.. just facts guys.

HI. the momc have been trying. The problem is, over the years the hang em hi and kill has been detremental..Its great to see the captains use new holding tanks,, but how many have them. Very few at the cost. The running a fish to actually weigh is still 60,s style fishing. Its unfortunate to have such a large group with leadership un-willing to change formats..Even 50 inch minimums is NOT enough, in todays fishery.

I can't believe there are still tournaments run this way. It sounds like a potential waste of some big fish. The MOMC could require participants to use bump boards and digital cameras. It beats the current system to death, and solves the judge boat problem.
