Took Pointerpride and his boss (Aaron Webber) out for tigers this morning before it got too hot and rough. It was Aaron's first attempt at tigers and well, let's just say he monopolized all of the boat's luck this morning. His first muskie ever came at about 8:00, a nice, close to the boat hit - he got to watch it all. In the net and CPR'd. A pretty 26 incher. About a half hour later his lure hits the water and almost immediately he's screaming like a schoolgirl. It's obviously not one of the 2 year-old fish we've been playing with for the last month. It comes up and gives us a quick flash and both Mike and I figure it's about 34-36. Nice fish, but he should be making more progress on it than he is...Well, it comes up again and it's then that we realize that it's a much bigger fish than our previous estimate. It hits the net and after some calm down time, we measure it at 42. Aaron's first and second muskies ever within 3 hours of throwing his first cast. Not a bad morning I guess.

Beautiful fish, but the scenery is too much to take. What is the boating traffic like on Pineview? I would hate to travel that far and end up on Minnetonka with mountains. Are there any resorts on the lake?

Clark,
The lake is only 2800 acres at full pool, so that limits the size of the vessels somewhat (it doesn't limit the lack of courtesy at times though). There is a vessel limit that is dependant on lake elevation (surface acres) but the parking lots almost always get full before the limit is reached. Weekends are pretty bad after about 11:00 AM, probably not atypical from any other popular water body. Weekdays are usually pretty nice though. There are no resorts as the entire perimeter is owned by the Forest Service. There is one large campground on reservoir w/ boat ramp, and numerous off-reservoir campsites. Ogden is 8 miles away, so if you need anything additional, it can usually be found there. I haven't checked into it, but there may be some off-season rates at a couple of the ski slopes in the area which offer lodging (usually condos). Prior to Memorial Day and after Labor day most of the recreational traffic is absent. I have had numerous days as early as late September when I was the only boat on the water. When that happens I take pictures and send them to Slamr!

Great fish. I always look forward to your pics. Tiger Muskies are one of the most beautiful fish you will see, and as for sorno,s backgrounds...well what more can you say?

Thanks for taking me out again Sorno...A good time as always, but maybe next time we'll leave Webber home! That was a great fish and to think he goes from a giant backlash with his first cast ever on a baitcaster to sticking two fish!

You should know better than to take a rookie with on trips! hehehe They always seem to score.

Great pics again. I look at the background as much as I do those pretty Tigers. I will make it out there one of these years.
