Well, I took a trip up to Vermilion last weekend and ran my boat out of gas. I've got a 42 gallon main tank and a 5 gallon auxillary. My guages are always reading empty due to the sending units not working correctly (I understand that is a pretty common issue), that is getting fixed soon. I wasn't too worried about it as I had 5 gallons of reserve to get me to a pump if I ran out. Well, I ran it dry on Sunday and when I switched the valve to the aux. tank, I couldn't get the gas to flow. I have been trying for the last hour to get gas from the tank to the motor with no luck. I finally went and put some gas in the main tank, and now cant get the gas to flow from the main tank. I don't know whether it is an air pocket or something else. Has anyone else ran their boat dry and had a bear of a time getting it re-lit. I have tried squeezing the ball until my forearms hurt with no results. I know the motor is fine becuase every once in while it will run for a few seconds. Can anyone tell me how I am suppose to get this problem solved. Thanks. Oh, by the way it is a 620, so I can't readily see/inspect my lines, but I am sure that they are fine, I just can't get the gas started to the motor. Am I going to have to syphon it out? Thanks for the help.

" I can't readily see/inspect my lines, but I am sure that they are fine" - how are you sure of this? Try disconnecting the line from the tank and from the squeeze bulb and blow (not by mouth!) air thru the line to be sure. Maybe you picked up some bottom gunk from the tank that's clogged a line? m

what kind of motor u running if its a omc could be your fuel pickup pump or your separater filter, my etec did what sounds like yours is doing yesterday, took it in today and changed the filter ran fine after that ,have also heard of ranger owners valve that switches from tank to tank going out, go to bassboatcentral and find your brand of motor on the bbc board u should find someone with a clearer answer than i can give. good luck mike etzel

Marshall- Another possibility is that you may have a air leak. This happened to me at the first MF Cass Lake outing. Engine would run for a few sec and die. Closely inspect the fuel lines & bulb.

Good luck

I'd try another bulb. A friend had a brand new one fail last year. Check valve in there was stuck open.
