Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | I caught this fish on it's second attempt to eat a Slippery Sam on a figure 8. Seemed perfectly healthy. Ate the lure without issue, just goofy looking. I'm thinking it was from an early injury...or really ugly parents.

| Looks exactly like the small muskys I've got in my aquarium right now. They eventually rub their snouts on the glass causing a bumb to start forming. Even the muskies in the huge Cabelas aqauriums have it. Most likely somebody had your fish in thier living room at one time and decided to let it go in the local musky hole once it got to big. That's what it looks like to me anyway. |

Thanks for the nice comments, I really appreciate them. We'll have to get out on Green Bay next month.
I agree the bottom jaw is inflamed from rubbing against the rocks in this shallow, river environ, but the top is certainly deformed. |

| I call it Broken Beak it happens to my fingerlings they run into the sides of their holding tanks and break their beaks they often die . I have seem them knocked out for 1to 2hrs . I have tried to reset them but can't . Does any one know if I can reset them ? Tom |

| I've caught 2 this spring like that, a 40 & a 37 from the same lake. They are stocked fish so I wonder if that is the deal, smacking against the hatchery glass? |

| "Stubbys" aren't all that uncommon. I also had one in the boat on LOTWs a couple of years ago. Not a stocked fish up there, of course. |

Location: Warroad, Mn | That's a fairly common genetic defect that I can't remember the name of. It's quite common on the LOTWs. I've caught a fair number of fish that have short breaks, get one or two every year. Usually they are a little on the skinny side, but generally look pretty healthy.

| Just caught one of those on Shelbyville this Spring on an 8 inch Cranky Nitro, felt sorry for the poor little 37 inch fellow. Someone told me you should kill them so they don't spread the genetic defect, but that just doesn't seem right since these fish survive albeit a bit skinny!

Location: SW Michigan | Two fish swimming upstream. The one in the lead swims into a big piece of concrete. The second fish says "Dam! Your Musky must have been the first one.
