Posts: 19 | I wanted to put out an open invite to anyone fishing the opener on Mille Lacs to stop by my place around 8:30pm or so to drink some beers and talk about the days results. The house is right off of the first street west of the Red Door. The street name is 385th and you just have to turn right (north), we are the 2nd house from the corner. It is a white house and you'll see a white F150 in the driveway. I hope to see some of you guys there. Mike

Mike, Mille Lacs and I have never gotten along for opener, but after mid June I am up every weekend, got a place in Sunset Bay.. I am not going to take you up on your offer this weekend, but maybe some other weekend I'll have to stop by and BS when I am up on the north end... Thanks and good luck!!!

Posts: 2089 | See ya there! Might be a little late as the stupid muskies have been munching the little brown fish that come up on the stones just at/after dark.Early season night stalkin'! Remember the night ban is from 10pm to 6am. Steve

Hey guys, For clarification. Do you have to be off the lake between 10-6 or just stop fishing by then. I am going to be up there the weekend of June 10th and I want to make sure I get as much time on the water as possible. Also, this is my first time on the lake during the summer, so any tips on musky areas will be well appreciated.

Posts: 1243 Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | The night ban ends on Monday morning, June 11th, at 12:01 a.m. My understanding of the night ban is you can be on the water after 10:00 p.m. as long as you don't have any fishing gear in your boat. So in other words, if you're out there, you'll want to be off the water by 10:00 and not on your way in. Aaron

Thanks for the info on the night ban, guess I have been breaking the law all walleye season.. I generally pull out of my spot as soon as my watch reads 10pm... Are you sure the law is that you can not be fishing after 10pm?? What would the DNR do with the people sitting and waiting at public landing to load boats? They would be on the water with fishing gear after 10pm?? Very curious, as I have heard of others getting some pretty stupid tickets this year up on Mille Lacs... I sure don't want to pay a big fine to get an extra 15 minutes of fishing in..

Posts: 2378 | This is straight from the book... MILLE LACS LAKE including tributaries to posted boundaries (Aitkin, Crow Wing, and Mille Lacs Counties). No one may fish for any species or possess fishing gear on the lake from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. starting at 10 p.m. on May 14 and ending at 12:01 a.m. on June 11. Sounds go me like you better have the boat on the trailer by 10pm or they COULD cite you.

Posts: 536 Location: Brainerd Area | If your at the landing waiting to land your boat they will not site you. If you come in 10 min late they just mite. They know there is a mad dash back to the landing and as long as you there and making the efort to get off your OK. Duck

Posts: 19 | Keith, I figured I would pick up my order when you take me out on Leech and show me all of your big fish spots!!! I look forward to tipping a few back with you eventually. Good Luck this weekend. Mike

Posts: 2089 | The point of the night ban is to protect the post spawn walleyes from overharvest. They come up on the rocks at night by the millions. Steve

Its a walleye thing, I believe.... The rumor I heard is that it assures that less walleyes are taken from the lake, as they seem to bite better at night... If that is the case, I am not sure how effective it is, but whatever the DNR is doing on this lake, they are doing it right, so I know I won't question their fish management styles...
