There were five muskies registered at the WMT's Lac Vieux Desert tournament Saturday, May 26th. Mark Lijewski and Clay Schroeder tallied the first two muskies of the event with a 40 incher at 7:40am and a 41 1/2" muskie at 8:20am to take home the victory. The largest muskie of the day would be registered at 10:15am by Al Frost and Gary Mueller that scored 46 1/4 inches. At 11:10am, the father and son team of Even & Buck Derleth landed a dandy 45" muskie. The final team to score on a muskie for the tournament was the father and son team of George & Patrick Kingsland with a 40 1/2 incher at 3:55am. The WMT's Lac Vieux Desert tournament paid down five places: 1st - Mark Lijewski/Clay Schroeder 2nd - Al Frost/Gary Mueller 3rd - Even & Buck Derleth 4th - George & Partick Kingsland 5th - Bob & Annie Jacobs For a more detailed description and full color photos of the WMT's Lac Vieux Desert tournament, pick up the next issue of the Badger Sportsman Magazine. The next tournaments for the WMT will be on June 2nd on the Phillips Chain of Lakes and on June 3rd on Butternut Lake in Park Falls. Both the Phillips Chain and Butternut tournaments still has some open spots. If you are interested in fishing the Phillips Chain tournament you can sign up for the event on Friday, June 1st at the Birch Island Resort on the shores of Wilson Lake on the chain between the hours of 5:00pm and 7:30pm. If you are interested in participating in the Butternut Lake tournament, you can register for the event on Saturday, June 2nd at the Northern Pines Resort on the east shores of Butternut Lake between the hours of 6:00pm and 7:30pm. The big question that looms large in regards to Mark Lijewski and Clay Schroeder's victory at the WMT's Lac Vieux Desert tournament...is will the team follow up their victory with another win at Monday's WMT North/South Twin Lakes tournament to take home another $10,000.00 first place finish and the $10,000.00 "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER" (tm) bonus for winning back to back WMT one-day events for a total of $30,000.00 for the weekend? Certainly Mark and Clay have been on fire for the last few tournaments but can their pattern hold up on this Memorial Day's WMT Twin Lakes tourney? The North/South Twin Lake WMT tournament has 74 other teams who will not be handing over the victory to Mark and Clay without a fight. It should be a very exciting event with lead changes happening almost by the minute. If you are inclined to watch the thrilling outcome for yourself, please join us during the tournament at the Grape's Twin Haven Resort on North Twin from 6:00am to 4:00pm. The awards will follow at 5:00pm. Thanks and have a great season, Tom McInnis WMT - Co-Founder | |||
