I tried to look up old posts relating to internal antenna problems on Lowrance GPS products, but I must start a new post. I have a Globalmap 5300C iGPS and it has yet to leave the garage. When I finally hit the power jobbie doo, it showed where it was. I have a Lakefinder Minnesota chip, and if I was at the neighbors house it probably would show the lousy 30' difference. I couldn't imagine a unit to be more dead on. There was absolutely minimal horizon for this unit to work from. I have shown this to interested parties 3 times at much different times of the day with the same results. Mr. Brett from Thorne Bros. showed me a hand held Lowrance unit that works just fine and dandy from inside the store. How is this possible??? Does it work through roofs/walls? Folks were complaining about the loss of signal through a plexiglass windshield on their boats, but rumor has it on the streets that it has been improved. If and when labor camp allows me to some free time to actually be on a lake, and if there any "glitches" with this unit, I will post them, but as of now, it is the cat's pajamas. Sorry...I just realized that this post belongs under the equipment forum.
